Went to see The Lovely Bones sunday, which I forgot to mention in the rush of Henry's message et al. I thought the story-telling was a little disjointed (and how much mileage did they get out of that one bike/rose-scene, too damn much, I tell you), but God, if it wasn't a ridiculously pretty movie with ridiculously pretty people.
Goodness.
Book to movie-comparison: I liked that they cut some of the more questionable content from the book, for instance (AND SPOILER ALERT, HERE) the subplot of the mom cheating on the dad just before she bails and moves to the other end of the world and all, because that's one of those clichés that just happens all the damn time in books that could be given a rest for the next five or twenty years. I was a little miffed that they kept the Grand Theft Me ending in, only because it skeeved me out pretty badly in the book itself, though I'm glad they only macked for a bit instead of going the whole nine yards. Crappy consent issues, much. No, seriously, Sebold, what was that.she can't go to heaven without a deep dicking? nice unfortunate implications you got there
Anyway, still pretty, and I sincerely hope I can see Ronan in something again sometime.
